Policy

SciMathMN works in the area of implementation of standards and selection of aligned curriculum materials by offering resources to districts, schools, and other interested parties:

• FRAMEWORKS
  The Minnesota K-12 Mathematics and Science Frameworks are documents designed with the vision of the national standards. These 500-page documents show the alignment of national, state, and local standards and provide resources for teachers and schools on implementing the state graduation standards in math and science and on research-based effective practices in instruction and assessment.

  The Transforming Teacher Education Framework can also be found at this site. This is a policy document that can assist teacher education institutions in aligning their programs with the national mathematics and science education standards and the Minnesota Graduation Standards.

• TIMSS
  Data-based decision making tools to assist schools in benchmarking their math and science programs against national and international norms. Derived from Minnesota's participation in the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS, 1995), these tools provide unique baseline data for judging program improvements and progress toward meeting the new state standards. • EQUITY
  Data studies and program resources aimed at fostering greater equity in math and science achievement.

• LEGISLATION
  Information and links to the Minnesota Legislature and Committees related to Graduation Standards and the Profile of Learning.

• LINKS
  A web-based collection of information and materials on standards-based science and mathematics programs, and on state and national resources for implementing and sustaining such programs.
